Since 2017, every spring and summer we've carried out structured surveys to monitor and help Turtle Doves in our area. In 2022, we added three new species to our surveys: Yellowhammer, Redstart and Song Thrush. We now call our annual surveys Birds on the Edge surveys, in partnership with the new National Lottery Heritage Project which started in November 2022.

To find out more about joining our small dedicated group of survey volunteers please email Tim Jones (Birds on the Edge Project Officer) and Richard on richard.baines@woldecology.co.uk and t.jones@northyorkmoors.org.uk.

Every year we receive lots of extra sightings of Turtle Doves, which is incredibly important for our conservation work. If you see or hear a Turtle Dove in North Yorkshire, please send us the details to include date, time, location (grid reference or even better what three words), activity and number of birds. Send all sightings to conservation@northyorkmoors.org.uk
